The Accommodation
Our Space
Hector’s House is beautifully furnished, self-contained, self-catering accommodation and is the “bit on the side” of our home at Barn Hill Farm, Howden. With one bedroom and a comfy sofa bed in the snug area, it sleeps up to four people. Perfect for short stays, though we welcome longer rentals too.
For those of you who like words, there are 331 below to help you get a flavour of the place.
Alternately, you can take a look at the gallery to get to know the place better as, as we know, a picture paints a 1,000 words.
Downstairs
Our lovely blue, key-pad controlled door leads into the large entrance hall where there is plenty of space for coats, wellies, etc. The hall is fully heated and has a dedicated workspace with USB ports, desk and office chair.
Head into the kitchen and you’ll find everything you need for cooking, dining, laundry, and, of course, a dishwasher to make life easier. There’s also a dining table that seats four.
The open plan layout leads into the snug area with a comfy sofa, casual chairs and a “JeansBag” to flop into should you prefer. There is smart TV which you’re welcome to log into for all your binge-watching needs! The sofa is a sofa bed so we can sleep up to four guests if required.
Upstairs
Upstairs, you’ll find a light and airy double bedroom with views of the sky. There’s an electric blind so after you’ve watched the stars for a while, you can shut the night out while staying cosy in bed. Cool, eh? There’s plenty of storage, including hanging space, and no need to pack a hairdryer; use ours if you wish.
Also off the landing is the house shower room with walk in shower, loo and hand basin and plenty of fluffy towels.
Outside
Outside is a courtyard which is shared with the main house and is perfect for a morning coffee and/or a cheeky sun-downer. There is a seating area sectioned off for use by Hector’s Housers, and you’re free to chase the sun as it moves round the courtyard so feel free to sit in any area you choose. If the time of year is on your side, help yourself to homegrown tomatoes and herbs.
We have off road, private parking for up to three cars.
Please be aware that we are next door to a day-care nursery which is open Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays). You may, therefore, hear the giggles of children playing outside and the faint strains of “Baby Shark” during the day.lease be aware that we are next door to a day-care nursery which is open Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays).
